FAQ

General Questions

What is AuroraQ Systems?

AuroraQ Systems is a research company that builds both advanced quantum computing hardware and quantum-resistant cryptographic frameworks. We operate under the "Duality Principle" — using the same technology that could break encryption to protect it.

What is the HALO token?

$HALO is a utility token on Solana that powers the AuroraQ ecosystem. It's used for governance, staking, accessing quantum services, security bounties, and cross-chain operations.

Why should I care about quantum computing?

Quantum computers will eventually be able to break the encryption that protects Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most blockchain networks. The transition could happen as early as 2027-2030. AuroraQ is building the defense before the threat arrives.

Technology Questions

What is AURORA-9?

AURORA-9 is our hybrid quantum processor featuring 256 error-corrected logical qubits. It combines superconducting circuits and neutral atom arrays to test cryptographic systems against real quantum attacks.

What is Project HALO?

Project HALO is a post-quantum cryptographic framework consisting of:

  • HALO-Core: Cryptography library (signatures, key exchange)

  • HALO-Net: Quantum-safe blockchain

  • HALO-Bridge: Migration tools for existing chains

How is HALO different from other post-quantum crypto?

HALO is quantum-verified — we test it against actual quantum hardware (AURORA-9), not just mathematical theory. This provides empirical validation that other PQC solutions cannot offer.

Can AURORA-9 break Bitcoin?

Not yet. Breaking Bitcoin's 256-bit ECDSA requires ~1,500 logical qubits. AURORA-9 has 256. However, it can test cryptographic primitives and break weaker systems (512-bit RSA, 160-bit ECDSA).

When will quantum computers threaten crypto?

Conservative estimate: 2030-2035 Optimistic estimate: 2026-2027 NIST mandate: Migrate to PQC by 2030-2035

The window to prepare is shrinking.

Token Questions

Where can I buy $HALO?

$HALO will launch on Solana DEXs (Meteora, Orca) in Q1 2026. Follow our X account for announcements.

What is the total supply?

1,000,000,000 (1 billion) $HALO tokens. Fixed supply, no future minting.

Is $HALO a security?

$HALO is a utility token used for network operations. However, regulatory classification varies by jurisdiction. Consult legal counsel in your region.

What can I do with $HALO tokens?

  • Stake to earn 8-12% APY

  • Vote on protocol upgrades

  • Pay for quantum compute time and APIs

  • Earn bug bounties

  • Collateralize cross-chain migrations

When do team tokens unlock?

Team tokens have a 1-year cliff, then vest linearly over 3 years. No team dumps at launch.

Staking Questions

How do I stake $HALO?

  1. Buy $HALO on a Solana DEX

  2. Connect your wallet (Phantom, Solflare)

  3. Delegate to a validator or run your own node

  4. Earn rewards automatically

What is the staking APY?

Base APY: 8-12% (adjusts based on total staked) Bonus APY: Up to +5% for long-term locks

Rewards are paid in $HALO.

What is the minimum stake?

  • Delegation: 1,000 $HALO

  • Running a node: 100,000 $HALO

Can I lose my staked tokens?

Yes, if your validator misbehaves (double-signing, prolonged downtime), they can be slashed. Choose reputable validators with good uptime.

How long is the unbonding period?

7 days. During this time, you don't earn rewards, but tokens remain locked.

Can I re-stake rewards?

Yes, staking rewards can be automatically compounded.

Governance Questions

How does governance work?

$HALO holders can propose and vote on:

  • Cryptographic algorithm upgrades

  • Network parameters (fees, staking rewards)

  • Treasury spending (grants, audits)

  • Partnership approvals

How do I vote?

  1. Hold $HALO tokens

  2. Optionally stake for voting power multiplier

  3. Visit governance portal at https://auroraq.app/

  4. Review proposals

  5. Cast your vote

What is the voting power calculation?

Base: 1 $HALO = 1 vote Staked: Up to 2x multiplier Long-term lock: Additional bonus (up to +50%)

Example: 10,000 $HALO staked for 1 year = 15,000 votes

Can governance upgrade cryptography?

Yes! If AURORA-10 discovers a weakness or NIST updates standards, governance can vote to rotate algorithms.

Security Questions

Has $HALO been audited?

Audits are in progress with:

  • Trail of Bits (smart contract security)

  • Quantstamp (tokenomics)

  • Certik (formal verification)

Reports will be published before mainnet.

What if someone hacks the AURORA-9 quantum computer?

AURORA-9 is:

  • Air-gapped (no internet connection)

  • Physically secured (data center)

  • Used for testing only (not network validation)

Even if compromised, it cannot attack the live network.

What if a quantum computer stronger than AURORA-9 breaks HALO?

  1. Our monitoring would detect anomalies

  2. Emergency governance vote called

  3. Network pauses (circuit breaker)

  4. New algorithm deployed

  5. Network resumes with updated crypto

We plan for this scenario.

Is HALO open source?

Yes! HALO-Core is open source under Apache 2.0 license. Community audits are encouraged.

What about the "harvest now, decrypt later" threat?

This is why we're building HALO now, before quantum computers arrive. Data encrypted today can be harvested and decrypted later. HALO protects against this.

Technical Questions

What algorithms does HALO use?

Signatures:

  • CRYSTALS-Dilithium (lattice-based)

  • XMSS (hash-based)

  • Lattice-XMSS Fusion (our innovation)

Key Exchange:

  • CRYSTALS-Kyber (lattice-based)

  • Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG)

How big are HALO signatures?

Approximately 2.5 KB (Dilithium Level 3), compared to 64-72 bytes for ECDSA.

Larger, but necessary for quantum resistance.

How fast is HALO?

  • Signing: ~1ms

  • Verification: ~0.5ms

  • Key generation: ~2ms

Slightly slower than ECDSA, but acceptable for most use cases.

Can HALO work with hardware wallets?

Yes, but requires firmware updates. We're working with Ledger and Trezor.

Does HALO support smart contracts?

Yes, HALO-Net is Solana-compatible, so existing Solana programs work with quantum-safe signatures.
